Australia Quarantines Shellfish in Moreton Bay to Combat Spread of Whitespot Disease

The Queensland government has put a movement control order in place for Moreton Bay, including wild shellfish harvests of shrimp, crab and lobsters, including Moreton Bay bugs.
“Fishing, crabbing and catching prawns can continue in Moreton Bay and catchments covered by the order, including the Logan and Albert Rivers, but people will not be able to move uncooked crustaceans such as crabs, prawns, yabbies, Moreton Bay bugs or marine worms, which can carry the disease, out of the area.
The actions come after new detection of the whitespot virus in wild stocks.
