Walmart Joins Canned Tuna Price Fixing Lawsuit Against Starkist, Bumble Bee and Chicken of the Sea

Retail giant Wal-Mart Stores Inc. lodged an antitrust suit in Arkansas federal court Monday accusing the three largest producers of packaged tuna products in the U.S. of conspiring to fix prices, adding to the legal woes of StarKist Co. and others already facing multidistrict litigation over similar claims.
Wal-Mart, by far the nation's largest grocery retailer and the largest seller of packaged tuna products in the U.S., alleges that StarKist, Bumble Bee Foods LLC and Tri-Union Seafoods LLC — doing business as Chicken of the Sea — conspired to fix the prices of packaged tuna products in the U.S. beginning sometime between 2008 and 2010 and ending in July 2015.
