Haring Catfish is First Domestic Producer to Recall Product Under USDA for Positive Antibiotics Test

Haring Catfish Inc. is the first domestic catfish producer to issue a voluntary recall under the USDA's Catfish Inspection Program for its name brand catfish fillets after testing positive for antibiotic residues.
The company recalled approximately 21,521pounds of its Haring Brand of frozen catfish products that may be adulterated with gentian violet also known as crystal violet.
The problem was discovered on July 11, 2016, after routine FSIS sampling results revealed a illegal amount of the antibiotic in the fish.
