El Nino is helping Mexican shrimp farmers grow larger shrimp.
Shrimp farms in Sinaloa and Sonora generally have a single growing cycle, as by November the water gets to cold for shrimp to continue growing and ponds are generally harvested.
Because of the long grow out, Mexican farmers tend to raise large shrimp. This year it looks like shrimp sizes will be larger than usual, due surprisingly to El Nino...
