Domestic Scallop Prices Back to Preseason Levels with 2015 Landings Far Short of Expectations

Expectations for lofty US scallop landings this fishing season have fallen short, contributing to an existing supply shortage in the market and far higher prices back to preseason levels to start the fourth quarter.
Domestic scallop landings between March and August this year totaled 24.66 million pounds. This is about on par with the harvest as this point last year.
However, the total is 30 percent short of the 5 year-average for the fishery and down more sharply compared to industry expectations going into the 2015 season...
