Survey Recommends Increase to West Greenland's 2016 Coldwater Shrimp Catch, Ending Years of Declines

Promising stock surveys show West Greenland's coldwater shrimp fishery may be recovering, ending years of steady declines that have contributed to the fall in global pink shrimp supplies and record high prices in the market.
A report from the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources recommended that the 2016 coldwater shrimp fishery quota in West Greenland be set at 90,000 tons. This represents a 30,000 ton increase from the Institute’s recommendation for the 2015 season.
The advice is also 23 percent higher from this season’s quota, which was ultimately set at 73,000 tons for 2015...
