Russia Bans Poland's Processed Seafood Imports After Producers Refuse Food Safety Inspections

Russia’s agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has decided to ban imports of Polish processed fish products, claiming the move is caused by the refusal of local industry players to allow Russian inspectors into Polish production facilities.
“The audit of fish processing establishments of … Poland, exporting its products to the … Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), was to be conducted from October 26 to November 6, 2015 by authorized specialists,” the watchdog said in a statement. “On September 25, 2015 the Veterinary Authority of Poland … declared that Polish establishments refused to be inspected.”
This said, local fish processors have reacted by saying that they expected Rosselkhoznadzor would impose the ban regardless of the results of the planned control, and that the move was caused by Poland’s political support to Ukraine whose Crimean peninsula was annexed by Russia last year...
