The days of Thailand fishing vessels crewed by slave labour and using illegal fishing methods or equipment to plunder the ocean of bountiful catches are rapidly coming to an end.
The latest step by the Thailand Government to ensure that all Thai-flagged fishing vessels comply with the European Union (EU) regulations on illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU) sees seven Thailand government agencies pooling their resources and a mobile app that allows the status of vessels to be determined instantly.
Available as an iOS or Android app, as well as accessible from desktop computer systems, the Fishing Info combined database enables officials from the seven Thailand government agencies to immediately know all of the details necessary to verify a particular vessel’s compliance with EU IUU fishing requirements, or whether the vessel is in fact flying the correct flag and registered in Thailand...
