Russia Plans to Lower Domestic Transport Costs to Reduce Pollock Prices

The Russian government plans to reduce the cost of transporting fish by rail within the country in an attempt to make the domestic fish more competitive with imported products.
The state's plans is to reduce tariffs for the transportation of domestic and imported fish within Russia.
According to an official spokesman of Russian Rosrybolovstvo, in the case of low-priced fish (pollock, herring) logistics costs account for almost 20% in final price. At the same time in the case of middle-priced fish (mackerel, cod, mackerel, salmon) these figures are varied in the range of 10%-12%, while in the case of higher-priced fish (chum, coho, sockeye salmon, halibut) is about 5%...
