Peru Announces August 1 Start Date to Southern Region Anchovy Season

Peru's Ministry of Production has announced an August 1 start date for anchovy fishing in Southern waters with an allowable catch set at 450,000 tons.
Anchovy fishing will be permitted until December 31 or if the TAC is reached, whichever comes first.
The Southern fishing season start date is just a day after the season in the North is expected to close, on July 31. However, last week 95 percent of the 2.58 million ton quota had been landed, about 2.4 million tons so far.
Overall, Peru's anchovy season is performing far better in 2015 compared to last season. The catch in the north is well over double last year's take at this time...
