Chile's Atlantic Salmon Harvest Volume Down 34% Over Last Year's Levels

Chilean fishery authorities with Subpesca have reported a sharp decline in the country's salmon harvest through the first five months of the year, driven mainly by lower volumes of harvested Atlantic salmon.
According to the agency's Fisheries and Aquaculture report Chile's total harvested fish volume was down about 33 percent through May compared to the same time in 2014.
Declines in Chilean salmon harvests have driven harvested volumes lower in 2015. Chile's Atlantic salmon harvest through May totaled 174,000 tons, down over 34 percent compared to 2014 figures. So far this year, Atlantic salmon volumes make up 48 percent of Chile's total fish harvest...
