Volcano Calbuco's Eruption Prompts Evacuation of Several Chilean Salmon Farms

Several salmon farms across Chile have been evacuated as part of a Red Alert issued after the country's Calbuco volcano erupted late last night for the first time in over four decades.
The volcano is located in southern Chile in the Los Lagos region near Puerto Montt, Puerto Varas and Puerto Octay. Calbuco first erupted late Wednesday night in an explosion that spewed a giant plume of ash and smoke. A second eruption occurred later that night that produced hot rocks and volcanic lightning.
Chilean President Michelle Bachelet declared a state of emergency and issued evacuations for some 4,000 residents within 12 miles of the blast...
