Specialty Virginia Seafood Company's Blue Crab and Red Crab Pies Soon in Regional Whole Foods Markets

April 22--A local family business is poised to become a household name throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
The Van Cleve Seafood Co., founded and headquartered in Spotsylvania County, will have its gourmet seafood products in 44 Whole Foods stores on the East Coast by Memorial Day.
The all-female, family-run business started in 2000 with one seafood shack on Courthouse Road.
"Customers, they've never really had anything like it," said Monica Van Cleve. "Around here, everyone has had crab cakes but crab pie is crab and cheese in a flaky crust. It's something new and we thought we could bring our family recipe to a larger scale."
