DFO Announces Slight Increase to Gulf of St. Lawrence Snow Crab Quota

The total allowable catch for snow crab in the Gulf of St. Lawrence is increasing slightly this year, Fisheries and Oceans Canada has announced.
The total allowable catch will increase to 26,036 tons, that is an increase of over 800 tons. The exploitation rate, the percentage of fish that will be caught out of the total number of fish, will also increase slightly to 38.5 per cent from 38.3.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans also announced a quota of 400 tons of snow crab will be used to fund scientific studies on fisheries management...
