Moscow - Nothing in Russia is as its seems with the criminal justice system. Now a popular ex-governor of Sakhalin has been arrested for bribery, in a charge that is believed to have been orchestrated by Mafia interests whom he refused to allow into the lucrative whitefish business in Sakhalin. In short, after refusing their bribes, he has been accused of bribery. Our correspondent in Russia reports.
The Russian fishing industry is on the verge of a serious turmoil, due to a recent arrest of Alexander Khoroshavin, a former Head of Sakhalin Oblast. He was accused of taking bribes, equivalent to $5.6 million USD.
