Overturned Salmon Truck Reveals Seattle's Serious Transportation Challenges

Seattle traffic is bad already. But when something goes wrong, it goes from bad to disaster incredibly fast.
With the exception of those who walk or bike to work, yesterday's commute was a long one for most Seattleites.
A salmon truck overturned on the southbound lane of State Route 99 around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday and was not completely cleared from the roadway until 9:30 p.m. The road was completely closed to traffic during that time.
The Seattle Department of Transportation tweeted Tuesday evening that the trailer's contents had shifted, making it unstable to transport. Crews had to detach the trailer from the truck and pull it off roadway, SDOT said.
At first, the traffic backed up southbound along SR 99, then First and Second avenues. Then, as the hour grew later and people began heading home, things got worse. ...
