Big increase in Russian King Crab Production Expected as West Kamchatka Stock Rebounds

Russia may significantly increase crab production during the next several years.
Crab production in Russia may be increased from the current 56,700 tons to 71,900 tons in 2016 and 2017, according to recent recommendations of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO).
According to VNIRO’s latest report, population of the red king crab in the West Kamchatka is currently on the rise, which means the current quota of 5,000 tonnes can be increased up to 15,000 tonnes in 2016 year and to 17,000 tonnes in 2017.
