Gulf Shrimp Landings in January Post Sixth Straight Monthly Gain Over 2013/14 Season

Once again shrimp landings in the Gulf of Mexico posted improved volumes compared to the 2013/14 season. Catches in January were up from 2014 levels as fishermen continued to land more shrimp later into the season compared to the previous fishing season.
In January the Gulf haul totaled 3.28 million pounds, a 7.5 percent increase from 2014. Louisiana was again the largest contributor among the Gulf states. The state's landings were up about half a million pounds from last year to nearly 1.8 million pounds.
The haul marks the sixth straight month that shrimp volumes out of the Gulf were up over the previous fishing season...
