Louisiana Crawfish Packers Mad over Big Wage Hike Required for Foreign Workers

Seafood processors are fuming over a move by the federal government that could impact how much customers pay for crawfish this season.
The U.S. Department of Labor wants processors to pay foreign workers more, but the difference will likely come from customers’ pockets.
“It could really impact us as far as pricing and getting the product to bring to market,” said Bill Pizzalatto, owner of Tony’s Seafood in south Louisiana.
