Red Lobster Must Innovate as Mid Range Restaurants Fight to Compete

Construction crews are at work on downtown Orlando's CNL Center 1, making room for the future culinary home of Lobsterfest and cheddar bay biscuits.
Red Lobster is prepping for a move to its new headquarters downtown sometime early this year, as the longtime Orlando-based chain establishes itself as an independent company and tries to battle back from years of struggling sales.
Its move is just the beginning of changes for the restaurant industry in Central Florida in 2015 -- a year expected to be highlighted by the opening of many new eateries and the search for a new leader at Orlando-based Darden Restaurants
"Red Lobster is a new, independent company so a new space helps us establish and create our own identity," said Red Lobster CEO Kim Loprup in an email. "Our goal with the new office is to have a space where people are celebrated, are excited to come to work and be creative, and are able to contribute to our vision to be not just the biggest seafood restaurant company, but the best.
