Rudong County, near Shanghai, wins 'No. 1 country for white shrimp' by CAPMA

Rudong county in Jiangsu Province, located near the mouth of the Yangtze river just north of Shanghai, has been lauded as the “No. 1 county of whiteleg shrimps”.
On November 30, Rudong was honored with the title of “No. 1 county of whiteleg shrimps in China” by China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Alliance (CAPMA).
The county has built a complete industry supply chain including the whiteleg shrimps’ seedling cultivation, aquaculture, selling, processing and storing. There are altogether 33 facilities for the cultivation of high-quality whiteleg shrimp seedlings and they have raised over 10 billion seedlings every year. The aquaculture area reaches as high as 120 thousand Mu (1 Mu ≈ 666.7 m2) and the annual output is 80 thousand tons of whiteleg shrimps, which in turn brings the annual revenue of 4 billion yuan.
In the county, more than 32 thousand people are working in the industry of whitleg shrimps. The shrimp products are sold not only in Jiangsu province but also to the other over 40 Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenyang, Chengdu and Wuhan..
