Chile's 14 major salmon producers sign landmark labor agreement with nearly 900,000 workers

A majority of Chile's salmon producers signed a major labor agreement with their workers that will allow the two sides to cooperate in improving working conditions across the industry.
During a meeting in Los Lagos, 14 of the country's major salmon producers, representing about 80 percent of Chilean production, agreed to a Social Dialogue initiative with about 900,000 workers who were represented by the National Confederation of Salmon Workers (Contrasal) and SalmonChile.
"Today (Tuesday 16 December) is a very special day. In the morning, along with the Minister of Labor, Javiera Blanco, signed an agreement between employers and major trade unions in the sector to regulate the work on Sunday.
