ASC will streamline its eight separate fish farming certifications into one core standard

The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) said it will now work to streamline its eight unique fish farming standards into one harmonized certification.
Since its inception, the ASC has certified over 100 farms globally whose products--which include pangasius, tilapia, shrimp, trout and salmon--are traded in markets worldwide. The standards were developed in partnership the WWF's aquaculture dialogues.
According to the ASC its latest project will seek to unify the eight standards into one. The ASC said it will first indentify commonalities across the existing standards, which will be used to create a core certification that will cover generic requirements.
