Taylor Shellfish expands its tidelands and adds more boat access to Willapa Bay in property deal

Taylor Shellfish Farms Inc. of Shelton, Wash., recently purchased two properties that add to its tidelands and help secure Willapa Bay access for its boats.
The company bought Tokeland Fish and Oyster Co. in Bay Center and the former Bendiksen property next to the Port of Peninsula at Nahcotta. The company had leased the Bendiksen property years for ingress and egress of its boats, said Bill Dewey, Taylor’s manager of public affairs. The company has no immediate plans for the building at the site.
The Bay Center property adds 300 acres of tideland, a building, a dock and two boats to the company’s holdings, he said. It’s a key location, and Taylor wants to ensure tideland access for its crews, Dewey said.
The company’s tidelands holdings stood at about 6,000 acres before the Tokeland Fish purchase, he said.
“It’s a nice purchase,” he said. “It complements our operations down there.”
