Final Bering Sea Pollock TAC's to be set this weekend, Plan Team ABC limit is 1.63 mlln tons for 2015

The method for setting the pollock TAC tripped us up yesterday, when I mistakenly thought the 2015 NMFS numbers published in December were different than those published last March. They weren't. I had compared the wrong spreadsheets.
The pollock fishing year starts in January, but the process by which the final TAC is approved and published by NMFS takes until March. For that reason, NMFS publishes a 2015 pollock TAC to allow fishing to begin, even though the N. Pacific Council has yet to make its final decision, which then guides the final NMFS numbers.
Pollock is one of the most studied and successfully managed fisheries in the US, and there is a standard procedure for setting the TAC.
