2013 US Fisheries Report notes higher domestic landings and values; record salmon haul

The industry’s “state of the State” report, issued by NOAA yesterday, describes an industry driven very much by wild capture fisheries.
In Fisheries of the United States 2013, U.S. fishermen landed 9.9 billion pounds of fish and shellfish, an increase of 245 million pounds from 2012. Much of that was due to the massive salmon landings in Alaska -- a state record of pinks in Prince William Sound. Total landings of wild salmon topped one billion pounds, setting a new record, up 68 percent from 2012. Alaska accounted for 95 percent of U.S. landings.
