India seafood exporters say rate of EU rejections lowest ever, press reports painted false picture

The Seafood Exporters Association of India announced that export of marine products has been creating new records this year, with the year 2013-14 recording US$ 5 billion for the first time, and in rupee terms Rs.30,000 crores.
The increase is primarily due to increased production of cultured shrimps, mainly the species of vanammei. Cultured shrimps output for 2013-14, was 367,000 tonnes, which translated into an export of nearly Rs.16,000 crores, [2.8 Billion on US$] almost 55% of the total exports...
