Japanese consumers very receptive to hatchery raised bluefin tuna

TOKYO, As the Japanese government toughens regulations on tuna fishing to preserve endangered wild stocks, demand is growing for flesh from the prized fish raised entirely at farms, starting from artificially cultivated eggs.
Uoriki, a fish store in Tobu Department Store in Tokyo's Ikebukuro district, offers fresh raw meat of bluefin tuna cultured by Toyo Reizo Co. under the brand name "Tuna Princess.
Tuna Princess is priced higher than other cultured tuna -- about 1,500 yen for 100 grams of "chutoro" medium fatty meat. The taste is as good as wild tuna, according to a store clerk.
A woman in her 50s, who bought the meat at Uoriki, said, "The beautiful (flesh) color caught my eyes."
