Kodiak gears up for historic candidate fisheries debate next week

It’s FISH ON! for Alaska’s Congressional candidates when they meet for the popular fisheries debate on Wednesday evening, October 1st in Kodiak. Since 1990 Kodiak has hosted debates for candidates running for Alaska governor and U. S. Congress. They are limited to a single topic: Alaska’s seafood industry.
The event has always attracted 100% participation by candidates and it’s no different this election year, although initially Senate challenger Dan Sullivan said he would not attend. But he was able to rearrange is schedule after widespread criticsm.
Incumbent US Senator Mark Begich and his opponent Dan Sullivan will face off in the first hour of the debate, followed in a second hour by forty-two year veteran of the US House of Representatives, Don Young, and Democratic newcomer Forrest Dunbar of Cordova.
