British supermarkets joining Sustainable Seafood Coalition standardized labeling system

Leading supermarkets including Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Waitrose and Sainsbury's are set to roll out a new standardised labelling system on their seafood products, designed to help shoppers pick out sustainably sourced fish.
Working under the auspices of the Sustainable Seafood Coalition, the group of companies, which also includes Morrisons, Co-operative and Lyons Seafood, has given itself one year to brand their fish products with the new labels, clearly identifying how the seafood has been sourced.
For example, the companies will be barred from branding their fish with photographs of line pole fishing if it was in fact caught using trawl nets, and they will have to use the terms "sustainable" and "responsible" in context, rather than in isolation.
