Chilean salmon producers collectively reduce production costs 8% in 2014 so far

Chilean salmon farmers were able to reduce their production costs 8 percent through the first half of 2014 compared to last year, which has helped save the industry about US$1 billion so far.
According to Chilean officials the country's salmon producers were able to lower their costs to produce through improving health protocols and refining those regulations. As a result, companies were able to post $47 million in earnings collectively according to the government. During the same time in 2013, those same companies reported losses close to $70 million. Earnings were accompanied with a 37 percent increase in sales to about US$1.2 billion through the first half of 2014...
