Russia boosting funding for fisheries, including significant investments in aquaculture

MOSCOW, Additional financing of Russian fisheries will amount to 3 billion rubles in 2015, Russian Deputy Agriculture Minister and Rosrybolovstvo director Ilya Shestakov said at a press conference in Tuesday in Moscow.
"This year, as part of the Agriculture Ministry's budget financing, we managed to receive additional financing for the next few years, in particular, in 2015, this sum will amount to 3 billion rubles," he said.
He said that in 2016, the sector would be given an additional 3.2 billion rubles, and in 2017 - 3.4 billion rubles.
Shestakov said that from the 3 billion rubles expected in 2015, it is planned to direct 1.4 billion rubles toward the development of aquaculture, including the construction of a factory for the production of smolt or juvenile fish. "We will talk with the regions, where this is necessary, first of all, with the Murmansk region, where the main production of Atlantic salmon is located," he said.
