Dalian at center of massive cold chain logistics developments in China

There are nearly 1 billion tons of perishable food consumed in China every year and over 50% of them need to be transported through the cold chain logistics, but currently it can only handle the transportation of about 10% of the food, according to a manager from Port of Dalian group.
The Port of Dalian has been the site of an aggressive expansion of cold stores and bonded warehouses. The group is expected to become the largest cold chain center in China within two years.
The group has listed ten important projects in 2012 and Dayaowan cold-chain logistics park is on top of the list, which marks the beginning in the building of cold chain logistics system. According to the plan, the refrigerated warehouses will reach the capacity of 400 thousand tons in Dayaowan and they will be able to store and throughput 2 million tons goods every year in 2015, which makes it the largest cold chain logistics facility in China.
And in 2020 there will be an aggregation of refrigerated warehouses with the total storage capacity of 1 million tons...
