US fresh whole salmon market sees Chilean prices rise, EU prices dip on Russian supply shift

Prices on fresh whole Chilean salmon in the US market shot up late this week while the market for product from the EU dipped, largely due to supply shift created from Russia's ban on seafood imports from the EU.
In Thursday's trading Urner Barry's quotation for 12-14 lb Fresh whole Atlantic salmon ticked up 6 percent. At the same time prices for Fresh European Whole salmon dropped 4.5 percent.
Sources told Urner Barry Russia's import ban on seafood items from the EU created a shift in the global salmon supply chain...
