Chile's Sernapesca will seek to reduce high antibiotic usage in salmon farms

Chile's National Fisheries and Aquaculture agency (Sernapesca) will take up antibiotic usage among salmon producers as part of a project that will identify and correct issues in the country's aquaculture industry.
The department's director José Miguel Burgos said he will make it a point to reduce the amount of antibiotics used in the industry's salmon farming operations, noting the stark difference Chilean farmers rely on antibiotics compared to their counterparts in Norway. Sernapesca estimated Chilean producers about 450,700 kilos of antibiotics compared to 972 kilos among Norwegian farmers...
