Camanchaca expects to benefit on more robust global demand for Atlantic salmon

The CEO of Chilean salmon producer Camanchaca says 2014 will be a better year for the company through a more healthy approach to production amid strong global demand.
The company's top executive Ricardo Garcia said this year's salmon output will be on par or a bit greater than in 2013. He also expects more whole frozen mackerel output and a recovery in Chile's southern sardine biomass.
Moreover, Garcia said the industry has gained ground on maintaining a more disease-free approach to salmon farming, particular in controlling Caligus. He said the advancement of the Global Salmon Initiative has sparked greater cooperation among producers to develop more efficient and effective treatments.
