A season surimi output greatest in 8 years as whole Ak pollock industry benefits from larger fish

Larger fish size and good harvest conditions have been a real boost to the pollock industry in Alaska this year. Not only has roe production dramatically improved, but the fleet boosted surimi production over pin-bone out fillet production, which has led to the highest A season surimi output in 8 years.
Surimi output is now over 70,000 tons (Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska), and is expected to reach 74,000 tons.
