Bristol Bay Assoc. wants Murkowski to pull support for bill that guts EPA authority to deny Pebble

The Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association (BBRSDA) is once again out in front of a push against a Congressional bill that would gut the EPA’s ability to stop mining projects in Bristol Bay using its authority under sectoin 404 of the clean water act. They opposed the fact that Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski has signed on as a co=sponsor of the bill that would strip the EPS's ability to do a preemptive denial of a permit for the Pebble mine.
In late March Senators Joe Manchin (WV) and David Vitter (LA) introduced the legislation SB 2156, the "Regulatory Fairness Act," which would prohibit the Environmental Protection Agency from finishing its current Clean Water Act process to protect Bristol Bay from the proposed Pebble Mine
At the time the Association said the bill was an attack on Bristol Bay's jobs and the Clean Water Act.
