Conservation Groups Seek to Ban Mexican Shrimp, Other Seafood to Save Endangered Vaquita Porpoise

The Natural Resources Defense Council, the Center for Biological Diversity and the Animal Welfare Institute filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Court of International Trade on Wednesday in an effort to ban shrimp and other seafood imported from Mexico’s Upper Gulf of California that has been harvested with gillnets. The reason? The endangered vaquita porpoise.
