Processors Must Eviscerate Dungeness Crab from Southern Oregon Due to Domoic Acid Levels

The Oregon Department of Agriculture on Friday afternoon sent out email and text alerts that domoic acid levels had risen in Dungeness crab from the South Coast and measures must be taken to protect the public. The notice included evisceration and recall orders.
The notice was similar to last year when, shortly after the South Coast crab season opened, state management agencies had to close an area due to elevated levels of domoic acid. Some companies issued voluntary recalls of Dungeness crab and there was a brief media ...
