Invermar and AquaChile Confirm Salmon Losses from Algae Blooms

At this time of year algae blooms become an issue for Chilean salmon farms, although the companies impacted so far have ‘biomass’ insurance.
Blooms have been reported in the regions of both Aysen and Los Lagos, Invermar confirmed on Monday. The company said it experienced a mortality of about 1600 tons of salmon, worth about $8.25 million.
