New Project Aims to Improve Health, Safety of Aquaculture Workers

The University of Stirling in Scotland is launching a new project focusing on the health of the world’s 18 million aquaculture workers.
Led by Professor Andrew Watterson of Stirling’s Faculty of Health Sciences and Sport, the project is being funded by the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization, and follows a decision by the FAO Committee on Fisheries to prioritize occupational safety and health issues in aquaculture.
