NE Council Sets Higher Limits for Cod, Pollock, But SNE Yellowtail Restrictions will Hurt

The New England Fishery Management Council increased cod and pollock quotas for 2018 this week, which is good news for the New England fishing industry.
The council passed groundfish framework 57 which sets new quotas and has a number of other groundfish adjustments.
The species with substantial quota increases are Georges Bank Cod, Gulf of Maine Cod, Gulf of Maine Haddock, and pollock.
Redfish will go up 5%.
