At the recent New England Fisheries Council Meeting, the Council ratified the joint US/Canadian transboundary stock TACs.
These stocks include Eastern Georges Bank Cod, Haddock, and Yellowtail Flounder. As these are managed internationally, they are exempt from the rebuilding requirements in Magnuson.
The biggest change was a decline from 50,000 tons to 40,000 tons in the Eastern Georges Bank haddock TAC. The total is split with 15,600 tons going to the US, and 24,400 tons going to Canada. The split is based on both fishing history and stock surveys, with the primary weight given to stock surveys.
