Competing Efforts Emerge in B.C. to Track Escaped Atlantic Salmon

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans'Atlantic Salmon Watch (ASW) wants to hear from anglers and fishers who have caught salmon that escaped from a damaged Washington state salmon farm, but so does one of the farm industry's most ardent critics.
To date, the DFO's long-standing ASW has tracked 27 reports of Atlantic salmon believed to have escaped from the Cooke Aquaculture farm at Cypress Island in the San Juan Islands. The fish have been found as far afield as Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island and Texada Island on the east side of the Island.
