Agriculture: Shrimp Farming in Mekong Delta Plagued by Unregistered Feed, Banned Drugs

The use of unregistered feed, banned drugs and substances for aquatic environmental treatments is rampant in shrimp farming the Mekong Delta, the biggest aquatic pond in Vietnam, the Nong Nghiep Viet Nam newspaper reported Thursday.
In Bac Lieu province, local authorities have detected 11 violations so far this year, mostly due to use of chemicals not allowed in shrimp farming. Last year, they found 11 local facilities selling substances of aquatic drugs and substances for aquatic environmental treatment not permitted by Vietnam’s authorities.
