Scientists at the NMFS Southeast Fisheries Science Center's Galveston Laboratory have prepared the following information on prospects for the 2017 brown shrimp season (July 2017–June 2018) in the western Gulf of Mexico.
The Galveston Bay Bait Index forecasts a below-average harvest of 22.5 million pounds from production in offshore Texas waters from July 2017 through June 2018.
