Rebound of Mackerel, Sardines in Pacific, Plus New Deals in Africa, Will Boost Russian Catches 20%

Russia plans to increase annual fish catch up to 6 million tonnes during next several 3-5 years.
The country is continuing to recove from the consequences of the financial crisis and the industry is benefiting from the rise of the demand for fish and seafood in Russia, according to recent statements of Ilya Shestakov, head of Russian Rosrybolovstvo.
Ilya Shestakov сomments:
"The volume of domestic fish catch has been growing for two consecutive years at very good rates. In 2015, it grew by 5.5%, compared to 2014, while last year the growth was equivalent to 6%. In 2016 a record catch for the last 20 years was registered in the country, that became mainly due the increased opportunities for fishing in the Russian territorial waters and the appearance of mackerel and sardine ivasi in the Russian Far East..
