Gulf Shrimp Landings in Q1 About Even with Last Year; Market Waits for New Season Production

Shrimp landings from the Gulf of Mexico through the first quarter of the year were about the same compared to the first three months of 2016. Wholesale prices continue to hold at higher levels as the industry waits for new season production to reach the market.
The domestic harvest totaled 3.4 million pounds in March, which was up slightly from February and down marginally from the catch last March...
Landings for the quarter were 10.1 million pounds, slightly below last year’s total through three months...
