Greenpeace Tuna Ranking Charade a Market Opportunity for Some Retailers Not a Sustainability Advance

As can be expected with a major initiative of a multi-million dollar NGO like Greenpeace, they have received wide press coverage with their 2017 tuna rankings.
Unfortunately, the rankings have almost nothing to do with tuna sustainability.
Instead, like other supermarket rankings undertaken by Greenpeace, the ranking system is used to reward banners that conform to Greenpeace’s ideology and punish banners that don’t.
For example, 5 of the 9 lower ranked banners on Tuna simply refused to answer Greenpeace’s questionnaire....
